| Edition | Format | Key Contents | Pre-Order Bonus | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Digital/Physical | Base game | 7 avatars + in-game mask | Story-first players |
| Digital Deluxe | Digital | Base game + Snake Armor, dye, horse/saddle, sword kit, charm, maps | Same as Standard | Cosmetic hunters |
| Collector's | Physical | All Deluxe content + mask, sash, tsuba, papercraft, art card, coin game | Deluxe extras | Collectors |
| Console Bundle | Physical hardware | Themed PS5 + DualSense + game voucher | Full pre-order digital set | New-console buyers |
The Collector's Edition carries the deepest pile of extras among the software-only versions, while the console bundle is the priciest route overall since it includes hardware. Match the edition to what you actually display or use, not just the item count.
What You're Actually Pre Ordering: The Game
Every edition shares the same core experience. Ghost of Yotei follows Atsu, a lone mercenary who becomes an onryo, a spirit of vengeance. Sixteen years after her family was killed and her home destroyed, she hunts the Yotei Six, the group now controlling the land of Ezo.
| Story Element | Detail |
|---|---|
| Protagonist | Atsu, a mercenary turned onryo |
| Setting | 1603, land of Ezo in northern Japan |
| Timeline | 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima |
| Landmark | Region around Mount Yotei |
| Antagonists | The Yotei Six |
| Environments | Forests, villages, mountain shrines |
The shift from Tsushima's island setting to Ezo's northern wilderness means new terrain types, weather, and enemy factions. Expect encounters with both hostile forces and unexpected allies as Atsu travels across the region.
Ezo is the historical name for Hokkaido. Placing the story in 1603 - three centuries after Jin Sakai's tale - lets the game explore a fresh era, new weapons, and a completely separate vendetta.

Collector's Edition Physical Items Ranked
The Collector's Edition is the standout for merch collectors. Based on display value and uniqueness, here is how the physical items stack up.
| Item | Description | Collector Value |
|---|---|---|
| Ghost mask replica | Detailed replica of Atsu's cracked mask | ★★★★★ |
| Zenin hajiki coin game | Traditional coin-flicking game with custom coins and pouch | ★★★★★ |
| Tsuba | Decorative sword-guard replica | ★★★★ |
| Cloth sash | Styled after traditional Japanese garments | ★★★ |
| Papercraft ginkgo tree | Buildable golden ginkgo model | ★★★ |
| Art card | High-quality concept art print | ★★★ |
The coin game deserves special mention: it is a playable traditional Japanese game rather than a static display piece, making it one of the more distinctive pack-ins in recent collector's editions.
How to Pre Order Step by Step
Follow this sequence to lock in your preferred edition without overpaying or missing bonuses.
Pick Your Edition Tier
Decide whether you want digital-only extras (Digital Deluxe), physical merchandise (Collector's), or hardware (Console Bundle). The Standard Edition covers the full story with all pre-order bonuses.
Choose Digital or Physical
Digital Deluxe and console vouchers deliver instantly at launch. Collector's Editions ship physically and can sell out or face delivery delays, so order early if you want one.
Verify Pre-Order Bonuses
Check the store listing confirms the seven avatars and in-game mask, plus Deluxe-tier items if applicable, before checkout.
Complete the Purchase
Order through the PlayStation Store or an authorized retailer. Keep your confirmation email for the digital voucher or shipping details.
Pre-Order Verification Checklist:
- Edition tier matches your budget and extras wanted
- Pre-order avatars and in-game mask listed at checkout
- Console bundle color chosen (Black or Gold) if applicable
- Delivery or unlock date confirmed
- Order confirmation saved
For most players, the Digital Deluxe Edition hits the sweet spot: full story access, all pre-order bonuses, and meaningful cosmetic extras without hardware or shipping costs. Choose the Collector's Edition only if you genuinely want the display pieces.
FAQ
Q: What do I get for a Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition pre order?
Pre-ordering any edition unlocks seven PlayStation avatars featuring Atsu and the Yotei Six, plus an in-game mask. Higher tiers add the Snake Armor, Deluxe armor dye, horse and saddle, sword kit, charm, and early Traveller's Maps unlock.
Q: Is the Collector's Edition worth it over Digital Deluxe?
It depends on your interest in physical merchandise. The Collector's Edition includes a ghost mask replica, cloth sash, tsuba, papercraft ginkgo tree, art card, and a playable zenin hajiki coin game. If you display collectibles, it offers strong value; digital-only players gain nothing extra in-game.
Q: What comes with the Limited Edition Console Bundle?
The bundle includes a limited edition PS5 with disc drive in Black or Gold, a matching DualSense controller with sword-slash indents, and a full game digital voucher that carries all the pre-order digital content.
Q: Do I need to play Ghost of Tsushima first?
No. Ghost of Yotei takes place 300 years after Tsushima and follows a new protagonist, Atsu, in 1603 Ezo. Returning fans will catch references, but the story stands on its own.
